Code of Conduct

I will follow the Scout law, Scout Oath, and Outdoor Code, and I will remember that these are the basis for all the following rules and should be the basis for all my actions.

We Work as a Team and Treat Fellow Scouts as Our Brothers and Sisters

• We are respectful, considerate, and courteous to each other.

• We participate and encourage each other. If somebody seems to be on the outside, make an extra effort to include him or her.

• We should express care, concern, and friendship by listening thoughtfully.

• Linking arms and side hugs are permissible if all parties consent.

• Scouting is a social activity; personal social interaction only happens when phones are off and away.

We Strive to Be Prepared

• We will wear attire appropriate for the activity and weather.

• We will bring materials and gear appropriate to the activity.

• We use the buddy system (same gender or groups of 3+ mixed gender) on outings.

• We use tools as intended, then clean and store them when not in use.

Prohibited Activities at Scouting Events

Scouts engaging in any of these activities at a scouting event constitute grounds for dismissal from an event and possibly the Scouts BSA program. Parents and the Troop Committee will be notified if scouts engage in any of the following activities.

1. All forms of bullying and harassment including verbal, physical, and cyberbullying are prohibited.

2. Hazing, initiations, and secret organizations are prohibited.

3. Violence or threat of violence (either expressed or implied; real or pretend) is prohibited, including roughhousing, hitting, biting, kicking, wrestling, and slapping.

4. No entering the domiciles (tents, cabins, rooms, etc.) or restrooms of the opposite gender.

5. The use of smartphones, cameras, mirrors, drones, etc., in places or situations where privacy is expected is prohibited.

6. Inappropriate public displays of affection are prohibited, including affectionate holding hands, frontal embraces, massage, and kissing.

7. No smoking, vaping, marijuana use, illegal drugs, or alcohol is permitted at any Scout activity.

If you see someone engaging in prohibited activities at a scouting event respond with, “We don’t do that in scouts.” If the behavior continues, inform an adult leader.

All aspects of the Scouting program are open to observation by parents and leaders.
